Experienced Full-stack Developer

Role overview

Would you like to work in a skilled Laravel and React team working on modern projects for an international client? We are looking for an experienced Full-stack developer to work in an existing scrum team based in Gran Canaria, working with a UK non-profit.

If you are passionate about writing quality code and want to work in a friendly collaborative team and be continually learning using the latest technologies this could be the perfect position for you.

What will you be doing?

You’ll be working as a Full-stack developer in a scrum team supported by a Project Lead.

You’ll be working on new web based platforms for a UK educational charity. The sites are built in PHP (Laravel 11) with a React front end & SQL Server database in Azure. You will be working mainly in the backend team developing new features, but also developing and reviewing frontend features.

Code quality is important to us so you will write tests, participate in pair programming and code reviews with colleagues on a daily basis. You will also participate in the sprint planning, stand ups and all scrum ceremonies.

On a typical day you might find yourself

• Creating new functionalities and applications

• Refactoring current applications

• Writing tests

• Redefining an API starting with the documentation

• Collaborating via code reviews to make sure our code meets our quality requirements.

Skills and experience

We would really like you to have: 

• Proven and significant experience developing in Laravel (11) with strong knowledge of JPHP (8.3)

• Proven and significant experience developing in React (latest versions) with strong knowledge of JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript (latest versions)

• Experience with TanStack Query (React Query)

• In-depth knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3, including modern features and TailwindCSS

• Knowledge of object-oriented programming

• Understanding of REST APIs, the DOM model, and offline storage

• Experience writing and maintaining automated tests (Jest) and E2E tests (Cypress)

• Strong knowledge of databases and general infrastructure concepts

• Experience with GIT (Bitbucket) and collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence

• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities

• Excellent communication skills in English (our team is based in Spain and the client is in the UK)

And we would be really thrilled if you also have:

• Experience with the full web development cycle from coding to QA to deployment

• Prior experience developing in an Agile team environment

• Experience working with Figma

• Knowledge of Storybook for component-driven development

• Familiarity with Redux (used for legacy code)

• Experience with Laravel and/or Azure DevOps environments (nice to have, but not essential)
